Every once in awhile a great blog shows up on Blogger’s Blogs of Note. This past week Blogger highlighted a blog People Reading. I absolutely love this blog.
Sonya, the blogger of note, says this about her blog ‘People Reading’:
“This blog is my exploration of literary San Francisco and daily affirmation that people still read.
While the Golden Gate Bridge and our hilly streets define our city’s physical landscape, I believe that the books we read are markers of our mental landscapes–the character of San Francisco.
Pictures are taken the day of the posting in San Francisco, unless I say otherwise. I get rejected about 20% of the time and I respect the privacy of people who do not want to be on this site.
Cell phones, iPods, and sudoku may continue to occupy the BART platforms, but books are everywhere, too. San Francisco, not surprisingly, is a very well read city.
I don’t pretend to be well read myself–this blog is more of an attempt to live vicariously through others–though I do read and I’m very interested in why we read what we do and what makes a good book good.”
I too love to live vicariously through what other people are reading. Which is why I enjoy Sonya’s blog. It combines two of my passions quite nicely. Photography and books!
It is also why I enjoy Good Reads. If you look to the right, on my sidebar, you will see how you too can live vicariously through the books other people read. Just in case you are interested.
Good Reads is an awesome way to:
- see what your friends are reading
- keep track of what you have read
- keep track of what you want to read
- find book recommendations when your to-be-read list dwindles down to thirty books
No. This is not a ‘pay per post’. It’s not how I roll here. I just wanted to reach out and give my fellow book addicts a new twist to feed their addiction. And ask:
What are you reading?
As Joy from Thoughts of Joy would say:
Happy Reading!

I’m not reading anything at the moment. Waa. I haven’t been able to stay up pretty much longer than an hour after the Kid goes to bed for ages now.
As soon as I can manage it I plan to re-read Boy’s Life by Robert R. McCammon. I think I’ve read that book at least a dozen times, and it always moves me. I highly recommend it. Some of his books were in the Horror genre but this one isn’t. However, you should find them all in the same section.
Do you know about paperbackswap.com? If you list 9 books you’ll get 3 free credits with which to “buy” books from other members. Then with each book you ship out you get an additional credit. All you have to do is pay for shipping your own books. It’s wonderful.
That book blog is really cool! My sister is frequently (daily!) in one of the places that she has photo’ed lots of people, and I was wondering if I’d see her on the blog, lol.
I too love to read and most books I find interesting are Christian books, kind of like self help books because they help me in my walk with the Lord. A super good book for intellectuals who think they are athiests is, “Finding the Invisible God” by Phillip Yancy. Anything by Phillip Yancy is good. When my mom died his, “Where is God When It Hurts” and CS Lewis, “Death Observed” helped me put on the mask and go back to work after 2 weeks off.
