It was bound to happen. Too many hats and not enough heads hands. It’s either that or springing forward.
I re-read my post when we fell back (you can read it here) and I chided myself on the fact that I did not heed my own advice.
I went out shopping instead.
It brought everything back into balance.
I believe in retail therapy…yes indeed I do. This too many hats mama has a new pair of shoes and lots of new ‘garden in the works’ goodies.
And as the sun began to set, the mood barometer was settling in at ‘normal’.
As for turning green. We have been attempting to do our part. We recycle plastics and
aluminum. Alright. So we are barely doing our part. We have yet to change our light bulbs to the curly-q ones.
Therefore, as we spring forward I am committing to being a lot more green. I am inspired by Heidi who has helped me understand that it is not just about recycling but also about reducing and reusing.
This post “How To: Go Green and Save a Boatload of Money - 57 Tips , Tutorials, and Ideas” will get me us off to a great start. Won’t this be a great ‘unschooling’ program of study?
Are you green? Are you trying to be green? Inquiring minds want to know more!

I like the picture of the not plastic bag. That is funny.
For the record, I actually have lost faith in the curly-cue light bulbs. I find they usually only last a year, plus they contain mercury, so I’m not sure the benefit is so great as they say. But I’m not an expert.
We don’t call it green (my husband and I hate the whole “worship mother earth” movement–we call it being frugal which it is.
That said, I found the deschooling article I was looking for plus an ebook on deschooling coming out soon. http://sandradodd.com/pattiedeschooling
http://www.huntpress.com/comingsoon.html which is reviewed here: http://www.momisteaching.com/review-of-deschooling-gently/.
I’m green as the grass in springtime. I always have been but growing up in Portland, OR, you can’t help to be anything but green and conscious living. You’ve inspired me to do a post….
eh, so-so.
We recycle, we consume less than your average folk, but only because we’re a fairly large family living on one income, so we can’t afford to buy new as often as I’d like.
Yes, it’s a unschooling field of study!
I so need to get more “green” than I am. I DO have curly-q lights. I do recycle…but there is SO much more that I could be doing.
Hugs,
Susan
