Friday Fill-Ins is another meme that I have always wanted to participate in but my sentence completions never seemed to make it further than just thinking about them. So here we go!

1. I love springtime in Florida. I realize that those who do not live here think that we don’t have a change of seasons…but indeed we do. And it is beautiful. The weather is a cool seventy degrees with a mix of cool breezes and April showers. It’s awesome to see all the flower beds in the neighborhood begin to fill with color and the birds returning to the backyard feeders. But most of all spring means to me…early mornings spent on my front porch drinking coffee and reading my favorite book as the neighborhood wakes up to morning walks and trips to the paper box.
2. Scrambled eggs and hashbrowns are foods I love to eat for breakfast. Smothered with ketchup. Second favorite are the raspberry filled doughnuts from Krispy Kreme when the HOT sign is flashing. Most often these days I just eat my brown sugar oatmeal and think of the good ole days.
3. It seems I am always searching for scissors. We must have a gazillion pairs in this house but where are they when I am knee deep in whatever????
4. Watching Big Brother Nine is a great way to end the day. I’m not much of a TV watcher. I would rather read a good book. However, I was sucked into the antics of the Big Brother house several summers ago and I have been hooked ever since. Imagine the thrill when CBS decided to have a ‘mid-season’ show. I was doing the ‘Snoopy happy dance’ for days.
5. I think I am a good mom. I drive myself crazy worrying about it. It seems that when my daughter was ages 8-9 I was provided a ‘respite’ from many of my worries. Now that she is a teenager (just turned thirteen) I am back to my old patterns of ‘am I making the right decision regarding (fill in the blank of any one of a trillion things here)?
6. Strawberries is what I have been craving lately. Fresh strawberries, strawberry ice cream, strawberry shakes, even strawberry pop tarts. Last spring it was lemons.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I am looking forward to reading two ‘bargain’ books I bought at Borders yesterday. Between the Wingtips: The Secret Life of Birds and Florida 24/7. Tomorrow my plans include a trip to our favorite second hand bookstore The Gainesville Book Company. They only open on certain weekends and this is the weekend. Hooray! And Sunday, I want to rest from being a ‘road warrior’ all week between home sweet country home and the ‘bigger, bigger’ city of Gainesville.
