Outside My Window…I can see the orange tree branches kissing the ground with their overabundance of fruit this year. Our neighbors say that we have some of the sweetest oranges. Perhaps it’s time to make some fresh juice. And I am watching this.
I am thinking…that it will be a busy day today.
I am thankful for…the fact that Head Start only runs through the school year. Although I have three summer clients, I am thankful I have the choice to suspend treatment until the 2008-2009 school year. Which I am seriously considering.
From the kitchen…I just made a fresh pot of my favorite (decaf) French Vanilla coffee. It not only tastes wonderful but the kitchen now smells like someone actually cooks in there.
I am wearing…socks. I hate wearing socks. However, I found some wonderful cucumber heel cream that has a money back guarantee to keep my freshly spa pedicured feet soft.
I am creating…three faith books. One is online and I am learning to use my digital scrapbooking program as I create the pages. You can view my first page here. The second faith book I am doing is a scrapbook of my favorite scriptures. The third is an example that can be seen here.
I am going…up to the hospital this morning to keep my mother-in-law company. My father-in-law was admitted on Saturday evening. I would be grateful if you would add him to your prayer lists.
I am reading…Healing ADD:The Breakthrough Program That Allows You to See and Heal the 6 Types of ADD by Daniel G. Amen. Be sure to check out my weekly column this Saturday at Got Good Mental Health?. I will be talking about what I have read.
I am hoping…class goes well tonight. I am not going to have my usual alloted time to ‘prep’ today. We’re covering
- Thinking, Language, and Intelligence
- Motivation and Emotion
I am hearing…my favorite radio morning show via Windows Media. I love. love. love. Bob and Sheri and I always have it on when I am working in my office between 6-10 am.
Around the house…are bags from Walmart, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Hobby Lobby and Gander Mountain. Mr. J and I went to the big city to do some retail therapy but have yet to ‘unpack’ our goodies.
One of my favorite things…is watching the squirrels playing in the backyard. I know some people find these critters rather pesky but I find them fun. Like the picture I posted here. They finally woke up and are chasing each other up and around the trees as I write this.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: Other than my usual teaching schedule, the only thing ’scheduled’ is to take a friend to the Tampa airport. Other than that Mr. J and I are keeping our calendar cleared in order to be there for his parents. In between, this week will be ‘catch up’ week from this past week. It only takes one day of neglect to have the household tasks get out of control around these parts.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing…

Wonderful–I am loving being able to catch up on what people are doing this way.:)
I hate wearing socks too. I avoid it as much as possible LOL.
1) I need some of that coffee.
2) When you figure out that digital scrapbooking program, will you teach me.
3) So sorry to hear fil is back in the hospital. We’ll catch up on his prognosis when we have haircuts tomorrow.
I enjoyed these snippets Danielle! Praying for your FIL during this time.
Where is the nearest Hobby Lobby??? I didn’t know there was one anywhere around our parts!!
Hugs.
Susan
I just started a faithbook project too. Putting in it all the personal prophetic words I have received and stuff like that.
I will be praying for your Father in Law.
I’ll be unpacking too.

I met Dr. Amen at a lecture he gave and then participated in his brain study of injured and uninjured brains. I learned a lot about the damage that can occur even from normal children’s bangs to the head - the kind that happen to most kids who engage in sports.
If you are interested in the brain and how it works, I highly recommend reading “”My Stroke of Insight”" by Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor. It’s on the NY Times Bestseller list and it’s a wonderful book. Dr. Taylor’s talk at TED dot com is also AMAZING! Oprah interviewed Dr. Taylor and you can check that out on Oprah.com. And Time Magazine named Dr. T one of the 100 Most Influential people in the world. Having read her book, I can see why all the attention.
Dr. Amen’s book is brain science and it’s great at that. Dr. Taylor is a Harvard Brain Scientist, but what she writes about is the science and much more. She really cracks the code to understand how our brains (right and left hemispheres) work and she explains how we can get into our right brain and be happier and more joyful. Aside from any of the science, My Stroke of Insight is also just a great story.
