My Daybook ~ June 9

Outside My Window…the sun is just coming up and it is quiet in my backyard. I’m up before the birds and squirrells this morning.

I am thinking…about the new LifePac Science curriculum I bought this week. I am really impressed how ‘user friendly’ it is and I am ready to get Miss Sam started on it today. It’s a trial run to see how this system works for us. Over the past few months of ‘decompression’ I have come to realize that we need some (but not total) structure in our homeschool routine.

I am thankful for…the freedom to practice my religion and to be able to read my Bible whenever and wherever I choose. It is what has kept me steadily going forward this past week. He has been my refuge during a recent storm.

From the kitchen…my plan is to make hamburgers for lunch to go with some leftover mac and cheese. I am so not a gourmet cook.

I am wearing…my same old robe from a zillion years ago. I have bought many new ones but they always end up being given away. There is a comfort in this robe that I cannot find in any others that I bring home.

I am creating…Miss Sam’s Age Twelve scrapbook (finally!!). I started on it yesterday and am feeling that great sense of accomplishment. I have been scrapbooking since Miss Sam was born (thirteen years now) and I absolutely love this creative outlet.

I am going…to try and catch up with Heather’s Art Lessons!

I am reading...Blue Dahlia by Nora Roberts. I am definitely not a romance reader but I have always been able to be ‘swept away’ by Nora Roberts.

I am hoping…I win the book The Pursuit of God by A.W. Tozer over at Carrie’s place Chocolate the Other White Meat. I love visiting Carrie. She is always a lot of fun and full of surprises!! Go by today and tell her hello.

I am hearing…the birds beginning to stir.

Around the house…there is dust on every surface. I just put in that never ending load of laundry – I need a towel to take a shower later. A few dishes remain in the sink from last night’s snacks. I hate doing dishes at night…night is for relaxing. The bed has not been made – it never is. Well, at least not my side. My husband makes up his side and leaves mine a tumbled mess. I hate making the bed – always have. I am one of those people that says ‘what the heck – you’re going to mess it up again in twelve hours or so’. Which is why there is dust on every surface ALL AROUND THE HOUSE. I mean what the heck…living here in Florida – it gets so dry that the dust creeps in every crevice 24/7. It’s a battle I fight once every few months (grin).

One of my favorite things…is doing this Daybook post every week.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: Telling my agency that I plan on not counseling this summer, going to the bigger bigger city for a visit to Borders and lunch at Moe’s Southwest Grill and getting a handle on the routine necessary for completing the Science curriculum.

Here is picture thought I am sharing

I am too busy taking pictures like these to dust (grin).

Hi Danielle! I am/was a “paper scrapper”, but just this last week decided to become a digital scrapper. I haven’t been diligent in paper scrapping because taking out all the stuff (and then putting it back) makes me crazy! I have had soooo much fun with the digital!

I’m in Florida as well. We’ve used LifePac’s before and really liked they. They are easy, portable and the kids felt they had “really done school” when they finished the chapters.

    Blessings to you.

Whew! Thank goodness I’m not the only one who has a dust collection. Thankfully, my DH doesn’t complain until it gets too unbearable for even me!

Don’t worry about the dust! My Grandmother always used to say that if people really came to see her the dust wouldn’t matter. Near the end of her life she made the statement, “I’ve learned that there are more important things than housework.” Amen!

I am going to a giant scrapbook day in Tampa in August and I am so excited. I haven’t done it in such a while. I really need to get back to it or I’ll nver get caught up!

Dust…yeah we get a lot of it around here too. Is it a Florida thing? I hope so, cause any reason works for me.

Hope you have a great week. I’m enjoying your Daybook posts.

I love these MEMES soooo much! I love reading yours, and so many other. I am going to have to have a Blog in my Blog to do them! I can’t wait to start writing! PS- I finally switched toilet paper due to UNCONTROLLABLE dust in my black bathroom. I had no idea that some TP actually does not pt a million dust particles in the air! HA!

Finding the balance between structure and freedom is always tricky and always changing! Sounds to me like you’re doing a great job! I LOVE the Tozer book. Have read it twice (which is saying a lot for me as I have a huge stack of books to read that I just can’t manage to get to). If you don’t win it, you can borrow mine. I did completely catch up my regular scrapbooks today. Yippee! I will be hitting the digital world full force now!
