Thanks to all of you who stopped by with wonderful birthday wishes and ‘everything you wanted to know’ questions. It was fabulous to have so many of you say hello and I had to giggle at what you wanted to know more about. Y’all always make me smile.
A Room of Mama’s Own asks: What’s my theme song?
That would have to be “Who Let The Dogs Out”. When we first got our new puppy Snickers we were spoiled. She slept through the night in her crate for a total of one week. However, once she started to get ’socialized’ with our family and began to park herself on our bed at night with Marbles….they both have gotten into the routine of wanting to go out every two hours. I really should not complain as this puppy has not had any accidents in the house at all. It’s like she just ‘knew’ that the potty was outside…I just hope that there comes a time when she will sleep through the night again and Marbles gets back on his regular schedule. He is back in bed this morning from his late night escapades with his new found ‘I’m not sure I want to be your friend’.
God’s Grace in Practice asks: What is your favorite dinner to cook? And what is the recipe? If you hate cooking, the question still applies (giggle).
It’s not so much that I hate cooking, it is just that I live with two junk food junkies that would prefer a frozen pizza over a pot roast. Therefore my greatest cooking efforts generally either go uneaten or unappreciated. Yet the one meal that we can all agree is our favorite ‘comfort’ food and I serve when we have quests is my homemade ’spaghetti’. I use the word ‘homemade’ quite loosely as it is put together with ‘ready made’ ingredients.
You will need one large crock pot to throw the following ingredients into and simmer on low for about 6 - 8 hours:
1 extra large jar of Prego Traditional Spaghetti Sauce
1 regular jar of Barilla Four Cheese Spaghetti Sauce
1 pkg (dry mix) of Good Seasons Zesty Salad Dressing
1 lb browned ground beef
5 Johnsonville Sweet Italian Sausages (bar boiled and browned)
15 frozen (any brand) Italian meatballs (put these in twenty minutes before serving)
To emphasize the challenges I face with co-ordinating our food preferences….I serve the above sauce over Rotini noodles for my peas in the pod and I make a separate batch of Angel Hair noodles for me.
Serve with Pillsbury Cheddar Biscuits.
An Untraditional Home asks: Hermit Crab or Lizard?
To quote my sister-in-law on her recent trek up our front sidewalk to the porch “You have quite a lizard colony living here”. So my answer is lizard. We even have a home for them (an old recycled bird house) hidden under the overgrown lantanas.
Learning for Lifetime asks: What is your favorite restaurant and why?
That would have to be The Winghouse. I absolutely love their double breaded shrimp drenched in a mild sauce. The only thing that would bring it over the top for me is if our local one was by the water.
From a Heavenly Land asks:
If you could have a gift certificate to any store, which one would you like?
Beall’s Outlet. This is a store unique to Florida and I absolutely love their home furnishings section! In fact, I just went there yesterday and bought a leaf shaped ‘thingamajig’ for my coffee table and a patterned ‘vessel’ jar for an end table. Not to mention my trip there the day before where I bought a ‘relax’ picture for our bedroom (which I hope to begin painting next week).
If you were a crayon what color would you be?
I have never been one to color much - even when Miss Sam was little. Which is why I envy what my friend April can do with a box of crayons. Yet, if I had to be a crayon I would be Cerulean blue. My daughter introduced me to this color and I just love the way the name of it rolls off the tongue.
What was your favorite gift ever given to you? And by whom?
That would have to be the tiny plastic football charm that was attached to the vase of flowers delivered to my doorstep the morning after my first date with my now husband (swoon).
Noelle asks:
Looking back from here, this birthday… what could you change that would make you look back at this coming year and say,”I am so glad I changed that!”
My battle with anxiety and panic attacks. No doubt about it.
Flannel or silk? Pickles: sweet or dill??? Sand or Snow??
Flannel ~ silk makes me feel pretentious and uncomfortable.
Sweet pickles ~ sweet anything ~ sweet onion sauce ~ sweet pepper relish
Sand ~ I absolutely hate snow. I was twelve when my father retired to Massachusetts. Our first winter there was being stuck in the house for over a week due to a blizzard. I hated it. As soon as I graduated from High School I headed to The University of Miami. Sand. Definitely Sand.
Tell us your absolute Favorite Joke!
What do elephants do for laughs? Tell people jokes. I love. love. love. elephant jokes.
SeptSecond (my wonderful cousin) asks:
What’s ‘muddin’? I am a city mouse apartment dweller most of my life and am shamefully ignorant
Muddin’ or mud boggin’ is getting a BIG truck and driving through mud or a mud bog as fast as you can. My experience with muddin’ was doing it well after midnight in the Georgia back woods on a first date and having the carburetor get too wet. This resulted in my date my telling me he had no rags in his truck to dry it off with and would have to use his underwear (giggle). No lie.
For those of you who need a visual here is a photo from our local mud bog Horse Hole Mud Bog.
That was absolutely so much fun!!!! Thanks to Tara from If Mom Says OK for the idea. And thanks to y’all for your inquiring minds and again, for your birthday wishes. You made my day.

Dear Danielle,
Sorry I missed your birthday; I’ve been away for awhile and then offline when I returned. But I did smile at some of the questions. Personally, since you mentioned it, I would have asked about cowboy boots. I’ve never owned a pair but have seen a spectacular pair that I plan to buy when I sell my new manuscript! It just seems a bit “manic” to spend more for the boots than I spent on rent for my first apartment–oh so many years ago.

Did I miss your birthday? I am so sorry. Happy Belated. I am stuck inside my own pregnancy…
I would have a hard time deciding on the sand or snow question–it depends on the time of year.
And we are likely going to get a lizard if we keep the hermit crabs alive–fell in love with the green waterdragon lizards at the pet store.
Thanks for a chance to get to know you better. As for me, Tractor Supply gift card, green crayon and a puppy.
Well, We got a treat too for your b-day! Hearing all your answers. This was a great idea!
Yay! That was totally fun! And I would never have guessed your theme song in a million years.
I read this the other day and then obviously forgot to comment.
Sausage and Meatballs? I bet my husband would liek that! Also, it is really my kind of recipe with the pre-made ingredients. Thanks for answering all our questions! These are fun kinds of posts.
Great answers, Danielle! I loved this and may use it over at my place sometime.
Hugs.
