My Joyful Journal ~ August 8

A precious moment…when Miss Sam came and sat with me on the couch during a birthday phone call from my Dad. A gesture of reassurance and protection that touched me.

I am grateful….that I have choices. Many times we get caught up in the chaos and stressful emotions that having many choices creates. Like having to choose whether or not to teach a third class for the Fall Semester. Considering that the department heads accommodated all of my ‘criteria’ that would even find me considering the choice to teach an extra class or not to teach an extra class….I made the choice to teach a third class. I am grateful for choices.

I laugh…when Miss Sam does her impressions of all the Nickelodeon characters she has perfected over the years.

I remember…spending a few days of the summer between high school and college on Martha’s Vinyard with a friend. We had very little money but we had a whole lot of fun.

I love…that my mother-in-law re-gifted her Mother’s day gift card for a spa treatment and gave it to me for my birthday. I am looking forward to getting a much needed massage.

I will celebrate…getting my hair cut and colored today. Although it costs close to $75 a month, it is a guilty pleasure I refuse to relinquish due to strained economic times (one of the considerations behind accepting the third class).

A joyful picture from this week:

I finally traded in my extremely boring and conservative G.H. Bass book bag for something a little more ‘joyful’ for the upcoming Fall Semester. It’s all organized and ready to grab and go. School starts on August 18th here in the Sunshine State.

Ah, the guilty pleasure of a haircut-and-color…that is one expense I am not willing to give up! I just need to find someone a bit nearer than my beloved stylist back in my old town – 140 miles away! I simply cannot afford the gas to keep going back…

Wonderful list. For me the haircut is one of those things I prefer to go without, I am the ONLY one I like to have do my hair. :)

I love the bag. It’s so cheerful! And that it’s ready to go makes it all the more wonderful.
I like the beach picture, where you can just barely see the ocean, but you know a few steps more and it will spread before you in unbelieveable beauty.

I can’t believe school is almost ready to start. My college kid leaves this weekend, she has to be back in Gainesville by the 12th. *sigh* The bag is fabulous!
