My Joyful Journal ~ August 22

A precious moment…was when I walked out of the kitchen earlier this week and noticed that Marbles and Snickers were watching me from the same vantage point. They are not best buds yet but I see ‘companionship’ in their future.

I am grateful….that Tropical Storm Fay did not grow into a hurricane. If she had, she would have been a force to be reckoned with and would have taken down the whole state of Florida. There is talk of the possibility that she may turn around again once out in the Gulf and make a fifth landfall…here in the Sunshine State. But for today we have lots of wind and rain.

I laugh

because after three trips to the market yesterday (brain farts are common at my age) for the ingredients to make my famous chili, my husband came home from work and said “You know, I have been thinking about how great some chili and cornbread would be for dinner tonight”. Hmmmmm. Good thing I had managed to get it into the crock pot by noon (grin).

because when I went to check on Miss Sam after letting the dogs out at 3:00 in the morning, she had a note taped to her bed. It read: “I fell asleep at 12:00. Don’t wake me up until 11:00.”

I remember…when rains like we are experiencing today was snow. This was when I lived up in Massachusetts as a teenager. I hated.hated.hated it. I love the rain, but the snow. It gives me the chilly willies. You get stuck in the house for weeks on end and when you go out you have to wear every product sold in the L.L. Bean catalog. Here….well, when it rains you put on a tank top, your daisy dukes, and some fashionable flip flops and try not to hydroplane your truck.

I love…homeschooling. It gives me a 360 degree view of my daughter. Who is going to be very disappointed and cranky when I wake her up at 9:00.

I will celebrate…this rainy day. I like to ‘nest’ when it rains and my office needs some serious ‘clearing out’. What makes this ‘fun’ on a rainy day is that two of the four walls in my office are ceiling to ‘almost’ floor windows and I can watch the storm roll in and out while I ‘nest’.

A joyful picture from this week…

Your post made me smile today. I, too, enjoy a rainy day, especially when I have no place to go.

I am totally the opposite. :) I like a little bit of everything but hate too much of anything. Seems to me that had you lived in PA instead of Mass. you wouldn’t mind the snow so much, since we don’t get nearly the amount or get cooped up for more than a few days.

I think the Joyful Journal is a GREAT thing! It keeps us looking to the good in every day when we tend to focus on all the negative going on around us. My good friend started doing a JJ, and I had to steal the idea as well!
