A memorable moment…when I decided, on my drive home from the ‘bigger bigger’ city this week, to take a spontaneous photo field trip to the old Florida town of Micanopy. Since March I have had difficulty venturing very far from home on my own due to anxiety and panic attacks. This has made a significant impact on my usual tendencies to be spontaneous about anything. Moving forward is an exhilarating feeling once the step is taken.
You can view one of my favorite shots (my dream home) from this photo field trip over at Danielle Batog Photography.
I am grateful….for the therapy that is helping me move forward toward the person I have always been.
I laugh…at what greeted me when I came home from teaching this past Monday night. Although not funny at the time, thinking back to the vision of Mr. John standing in the middle of a flooded kitchen floor, surrounded by our entire linen closet (dog bathing towels included), just watching the water flow quite rapidly from the bottom of our refrigerator brings a ‘that’s really funny’ smile to my face. A quick phone call (made by me of course) taught us how to turn the water off to the refrigerator. Good thing my class was over at 8:30 and not midnight because we haven’t purchased our replacement boat yet (grin).
I remember…how much I loved being a military wife. When I did this post and photographed the flag presented to Mr. John at his retirement from the Army, it really brought me back in time.

It’s why I absolutely love the Lifetime series Army Wives. If you ever watch this show please know that it portrays quite realistically and honestly every facet of what it takes to be an Army wife. The good and the bad.
I love…the new old enamelware tin that I purchased on my side trip to Micanopy.

I found the perfect spot for it on the shelf over my stove/oven:

I don’t believe I have ever mentioned here out in cyberspace that I collect white enamelware. Here’s a snapshot of my laundry room.

and a peek at some of the open shelves in my kitchen…

Something new…I bought the Amy Winehouse CD that I have been wanting. The one that has the song ‘Rehab’. I love that song. At first listen I did not care for the rest of the album. However, after reading the lyrics and listening to the album over and over for the past few days…I absolutely love it! Just trying something new. Thanks Erica for the idea to add this prompt.
I will celebrate…picking my camera back up and taking it with me everywhere after quite a few months of leaving it at home.
A joyful picture from this week…taken in beautiful Micanopy. I call it Imperfect Beauty.

Hope you join in the fun of the Joyful Journal and bless us with this week’s blessings in your life!!

Your road trip sounds like it would have been a lot of fun! I love going out to just drive around to new areas, go look at houses and see what new we can find.
I remember being a military spouse as well. My ex-husband was Air Force. I made some of the best friends out there, but it was difficult for me being away from family.
I LOVE your cookware, too!
Oh, I love Micanopy! I wish I could have tagged along with you!
Even though I’m not from a military family, I really enjoy “Army Wives.”
Glad to hear that you’re feeling better. Lovely photography of you and your hubby!
What a pretty collection! Hope the mess clean up wasn’t too bad!
First of all, I love Micanopy! My Grandparents used to stop and eat at a restaurant there when they lived in Spring Hill. It was a delightful trip back through time and definitely a glimpse of “old Florida”. Second, though, I love the pictures of your kitchen area! Wow.
Thanks for sharing friend. Hope you’re well.
Hugs,
Susan
