Keys, wallet, etc all go in when he gets home. The only problem is when he throws his cell phone in there and forgets to plug it in instead. Love crockpots! Leave for work without something important (like the badge) and have to swing back by to pick it up? I know he gets tired of my morning chant: "phone, keys, wallet, badge, briefcase..." He leaves so early that not only do I pack his lunch, I send him off with a plate of breakfast and his morning Diet Coke (we don't drink coffee). I love the birdhouse! You did good!
