Outside My Window…there are three more new holes in our backyard that I am assuming lead to not China but Australia. As near as I can figure, when we let the dogs out during the night, we let Marbles in when he barks to come back in. However, we leave Snickers out for awhile longer. We do this so she is not distracted by Marbles and is able to concentrate on doing her ‘business’ outside and not coming inside to finish it (which she has been known to do). However, if she has no ‘business’ to finish she entertains herself by continuing to try and tunnel to Australia – after all, she is an Aussie Shepherd.
I am thankful that…I have a husband and daughter that are so tuned in to my behaviors that they are ready and able to re-route my ‘heading for a train wreck’ emotions when I feel overwhelmed.
From the kitchen…nothing. Not saying that I haven’t tried. I have. However, every ‘new’ meal I have set out to try this week have been total disasters. Thank goodness we always have frozen pizza and sandwich fixins’ on hand.
I am creating…havoc. For some reason the cooler weather has me chasing dust bunnies and clutter bugs. It’s driving me crazy. I need to relax and let them take over.
From the learning rooms…not much there either. I am behind in correcting Sam’s work from last week. However, Sam has been working with PhotoShop Elements and has posted some pictures from the Friday photo field trip on her Deviant Art account.
I am going…to call several landscapers to get some ideas/estimates on what to do with our backyard – besides pouring concrete over the whole thing.
I am reading…Perish Twice by Robert B. Parker. It is second in the Sunny Randall detective series. I love this series!!!
I am hoping…to get to scrapbook today (again). That is, after I review Miss Sam’s work from last week, set up her planner for this week, assemble all my lecture material for this week’s classes (I’m lecturing on personality and personality assessments – to include my famous ‘Oreo Cookie’ personality test and ‘What Your Halloween Costume Says About You’.
Around the house…oh lets not discuss it. It just about drove me over the edge yesterday. Thankfully, Mr. John (after a day of fishing out on the high seas) was intuitive enough to take me out to our favorite restaurant for dinner and enjoy the setting sun over the Crystal River.
One of My Favorite Things…is HGTV!!! I have a love/hate relationship with it. I love it for how it has motivated me to accomplish some great things in my home but I also hate it because I allow it to make me feel inadequate that I can’t do it all. Like that Lowe’s Creative Ideas commercial that drives me insane. You know the one I mean – “you did that?”…”and that?”..and on and on it goes – and we know full well she could not possibly do all those things by herself!! At least not as easily as the commercial portrays it. That’s HGTV.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: spend more time pursuing my hobbies.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing…

Okay, I have so much to say about this post!
We are just finishing a bunch of landscaping in our yard. After 6 years of living here, we finally gave up on doing it ourselves. The last step will be completed this week, I hope (other than a new swingset which I am looking furiously for). Some friends of ours did the work, Chris Winn Lawn and Landscape (do you remember him from Westport?) You should drive by and take a look. Of course, it will all look best next spring!
I love the scrapbook page. Is it a Smilebox layout? I never look at the pet pages since we don’t have any! Finally, I know EXACTLY what you mean about HGTV. I don’t watch TV much at all. But if I have it on in the evenings, it’s usually HGTV!
I love HGTV too! I get so many great ideas from watching and then the challenge is to go out and figure out how to do them frugally. I love it.
Oh I have the same love/hate relationship with HGTV but I love watching it. It does make me feel inadequate though too-especially when people call things outdated (and worse) and it looks better than my house!
Well, enjoyed your daybook… sounds like you have been having quite a week… or maybe even quite a life!
Oh I hear you on HGTV… love some of those ideas ….Wouldn’t it be nice to have the time, the money and the wherewithall to create some of those rooms and such?!!!
I love HGTV… it gives me such great ideas – that I never get around to doing. I have to make a plan and stick to it.
I have often felt these feelings are initiated by women’s magazines, TV shows, advertisments, cooking shows, and I could go on and on. All these conspire to make the average woman feel a failure, we will never look that good, have such a clean and put together home, cook such nutritious and eye appealing meals. The message we receive is that we are failures and more especially so around the holidays. So join the sisterhood of not quite having it together, there are more of us than there are of them.
Oh the landscape thing makes me crazy. I need to do my back yard, but I have not done it in the 10 years we’ve lived here.
I love the scrapbook page. Hope you have a great week.
Thanks for sharing your daybook. I like the quote about fall on your scrapbook page.

I’m glad that your family can tell when you are heading for a collision emotionally. My family is getting better at this though it is always easier when hubby is home.
Take care and don’t worry about the cooking.
HAHAHAHAHA! What a cute page for Snickers!
