My Joyful Journal ~ November 1

A memorable moment…was when Miss Sam announced that she would not be trick or treating this year. Such a burden of guilt has been lifted off my shoulders. I am not a very crafty person and since the age of two my imaginative daughter would develop costumes in her head that would be impossible for me to produce with my two left hands. I would struggle every year to work with her ideas with my failure rate quite higher than my success rate. However, it didn’t matter to Sam – she always wore the pieced together costumes that I came up with and got more treats than tricks!

I am grateful…that Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I actually have ‘a dish’ ~ Pumpkin Dump Cake ~ to bring to the family get together.

I laugh…remembering all the cute costumes the little ones had on as they walked up our driveway for their treats.  We always sit outside on Halloween night rather than hide away in our living room waiting for the doorbell to ring.  My favorite by far was the neighbor’s three month old that was dressed as a Hershey Kiss. Of course she did not walk up the driveway – her Mom carried her.

I love…my two jobs. Although it sounds as if I should be overwhelmed by holding down two jobs it is not as difficult as it sounds. I am able to schedule each job around my family’s schedule. I learned just recently that the psychotherapy office I contract with may have another opportunity for counseling in my county and I have agreed to take it on as well. I have truly been blessed.

Something new….it has been rather chilly in these southern regions as of late and I had to go out and buy a new ‘hoodie’. I hate.hate.hate. coats/jackets of any kind and I adore the individual that came up with warm hoodies. I bought one in gray and one in brown.

I will celebrate…that Miss Sam spent some time with her grandparents (my parents) on Wednesday. Miss Sam asked if she could visit with them, I called up and asked, they said okay and they all enjoyed their time together. Amen.

A joyful picture from this week…
