My Joyful Journal ~ January 3

Photobucket

My Joyful Journal is a little late. We headed out for some fishing today. We didn’t catch a doggone thing but it sure was fun just being on the water.

A memorable moment…pigging out at The Cheesecake Factory yesterday with a wonderful and dear friend!

I am grateful…that we are blessed to have friends in our lives that, although we don’t visit with each other as often as our hearts want to it is still as though we never spent a day apart.

I laugh…when Miss Sam imitates Jeff Dunham’s Dead Terrorist.

I love…our boat. For most of my adult life I have always dreamed of owning a boat. I never imagined one day that dream would come true. Just being near bodies of water such as the lake or the beach have always instilled in me a sense of contentment. I can’t describe the feeling that overtakes me now that I can actually be ON the water!!! I truly am blessed.

Something new….our dear friends that joined us at The Cheesecake Factory not only share a love of all things cheesecake (grin) but they also share a love of books. Needless to say we were unable to leave Borders without depleting their inventory significantly. I purchased several homeschool books (thank goodness that Borders has a 20% discount for educators!):

  • Joan of Arc
  • Marie Curie
  • Presidents: All You Need to Know
  • The Handy History Answer Book
  • World Religions: The Illustrated Guide
  •  Number the Stars by Lois Lowry

and I also bought a few for me:

  • The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan (highly recommended by my friend’s son)
  • The Warrior Heir by Cinda Williams Chima (also highly recommended by my friend’s son)
  • The Swiss Family Robinson by Johann Wyss

I will celebrate…having the opportunity to spend a beautiful day out on the Gulf of Mexico and watch a dolphin play just a few feet away from our boat.

A few joyful pictures from today…

This photo has not been re-touched in any way. This is how it looked out on the Gulf today. The water was like glass. We don’t know these people but their boat was not far from ours.

This is the dolphin that kept us entertained during the afternoon.

And here is a shot that reminds me how glorious God is and how He is certainly everywhere.

If you would like to participate this weekend by writing your own Joyful Journal, feel free to leave your link!!!! Thanks for sharing.

I love the pictures. I know exactly what you mean about the feeling as you are near the water. There’s something so peaceful and calming. I would love to have a boat, but I guess it would make more sense if I weren’t in the middle of Oklahome, but rather closer to “real” water.
Swiss Family Robinson was one of my favorite reads when I was younger. Thank you for visiting, sharing that you and your husband were close to divorce and for your encouraging comments. I’m thankful that Jody and I have been able to find our way together again, but it came to that point.
