My Joyful Journal ~ January 17

A memorable moment…was enjoying this season’s American Idol and watching Ryan Seacrest spontaneously give a blind contestant (and winner of a ticket to Hollywood) a high five without it registering that the winner could not see not only the high five but Ryan himself. It just absolutely sent me into gales of laughter with my husband shaking his head stating “I just don’t understand you” as he replayed it on the DVR a gazillion times until I am crying from laughing so hard.

I am grateful…for a long weekend with no plans and cold temperatures that keep me in my winter pajamas all day. Yep it’s after 12:00 and I am still in ‘relaxation’ mode.

I laugh…at how Snickers body slams Marbles to get his attention and he just looks at her like ??? And goes about his business…which is usually continuing the work begun by Snickers on their trek to Australia China (see photos below).

I love…the freezing temperatures that keep me inside with a good book and a steaming cup of Hazelnut coffee with Vanilla Caramel creamer.

Something new….a wonderful cookbook I found at the local thrift store, 1001 Oriental Recipes.

A few joyful pictures from this morning:

Don’t you wish you had a backyard like mine?

Today’s Around the Square: is Laura from I’m an Organizing Junkie. Given my obsession with simplifying my life over the past three years this site is a keeper!!!! I can’t help but go straight to the ‘storage’ sections of any store to see what I can find to help keep me organized. I have incorporated many an awesome idea from Laura’s blog. Is this the year that you have promised yourself to get more organized????? Go give Laura’s blog a peek and be inspired!!!

Today I am grateful for: time alone. Miss Sam has gone with her Aunt and Cousin to see Hotel for Dogs. And since it is much too cold to fish, Mr. John has done the next best thing: gone to a class to learn how to fish (grin).

Today I will simplify my life: by ignoring the shoulds in my day and doing absolutely nothing on my ‘To Do’ list.

Don’t you just LOVE those quiet days? I am having a semi-quiet day. I’m trying to catch up with blogging.

    Hugs,

    Susan

Oh Danielle. I saw the Ryan Seacrest bit, but for some reason, I felt embarrassed for Ryan. ???

However, your comment about laughing until you cried reminded me of my fit of laughter. It happened when we were watching The Amazing Race. One of the boys from the frat team could not march on one of the challenges. His attempts were absolutely hysterical! My husband thought it was funny, but nothing like me. And, I also replayed it on TIVO several times. I still laugh at even the thought of it.

    Thanks for the reminder.

I would have joined you in the laugh fest over Seacrest’s faux pas. I think he’s not the sharpest tool in the shed to start with.

I caught the “high-five” incident, too. It was a laugh-fest for me – what does that mean? I know my face would have been bright red if I had done the same thing. Thanks for the added insight on my Modesty post – I like to hear other views on important(to me) issues.
