My Daybook ~ January 19

Outside My Window….the fog and the dampness has burned off and it is a wonderful 55 degrees. I can handle that as it is only 10:00 and it promises to be a warm and toasty 60 degrees in a little bit.

I am thankful….that Lowe’s was very, very, efficient in arranging and contracting out their plumbing jobs. We bought the new toilet on Saturday (when I went earlier this week I discovered that the one Mr. John and his mom picked out was the wrong color…biscuit is supposedly the new bone…but it is too, too, light for our ‘old’ bone sink and shower) and it is being installed today. Yippee!

From the kitchen…I gave in and purchased my Swiffer starter kit last night. Mr. John and I mop the kitchen floor together…he mops, I rinse. The catch is that we don’t want to spend every weekend doing this. Therefore, our kitchen floor is only ‘deep clean’ mopped every two to three weeks. Having a teenager (Miss Sam), a sloppy cook (me) and two dogs, our clean floors don’t even last an hour. Keeping the wet Swiffer on hand seems to be doing the trick – I already tried it out this morning.

I didn’t make the spaghetti pie…just made spaghetti the old fashioned way so nothing new from the kitchen as we have been fortunate to be able to eat out at both of our favorite restaurants this weekend.

I am creating…another mess in my office/studio. How does this happen????????

From the learning rooms…although my self-developed curriculum has increased Miss Sam’s daily work load, she has actually expressed that she loves it compared to the LifePac Curriculum. I have also been able to target some of her weak areas and really concentrate on increasing her skills with specific tasks.

I am going…to help my husband organize his ‘fishing’ area in the garage. It is a two car garage but with one ‘tool’ workbench on one side and one ‘fish’ bench area on the other, there is only room for one car —- MINE!!!!!

I am readingFearless Fourteen by Janet Evanovich. I have been reading this series for years. I always look forward to the new one, and so far this one has not disappointed me.

I am hoping…to view the new video I purchased over the winter break – Depression: Out of the Shadows. I plan on showing it in the next week or two to my classes. I purchased Mind of a Serial Killer over the summer but it was just too sexually explicit for me to feel comfortable showing it to even a college class.

Around the house…the toilet is already installed!! It didn’t even take them thirty minutes!!!

One of My Favorite Things…long holiday weekends.

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week: I have quite a full counseling load but certainly will take time to get my hair done (grin).

Here is a picture thought I am sharing

Today’s ‘Around the Square is Cheryl’s Treehouse. I have been reading Jada’s GiGi’s blog since I began blogging. I love it when she shares her musical talent with us. Jada’s GiGi holds nothing back when she shares her thoughts with you. I admire and lovethis about her. A fresh perspective is always found at the Treehouse…perhaps because it is up where the air is cleaner and fresher and closer to God.

Today I am grateful for: my mother-in-law paying not only for the toilet but also for the installation!!! It is the first time in our married life that the installation of a household appliance has been done professionally. We have always been fortunate to have family or friends offer to help but it was just so nice to not have to bother anyone because of our mechanical deficits when it comes to installing household products.

Today I am going to simplify my life my husband’s life: by tackling the fishing department that is expanding into MY area of the garage!!!!

Please keep us posted on the swiffer experiment. We have extensive hardwood/linolium and lots of mess. I won’t say how often I really get to them…

When we bought our new toilet last fall we were able to find one that was ‘bone’ because hubby was determined that it match the tub and sink. Anyway we love our new “Cadet” toilet and will be buying another here soon to go in my little room.

It sounds like a lot is going on this week. Glad about the toilet and the curriculum.

It will be interesting to see what you think of the wet swiffer. We don’t use one anymore, but I’ll let you decide what you think before i tell you why.:)

I had to chuckle when you said this was the first time you’d had a household appliance professional installed. Many years ago, Doc decided that he should be able to install the dishwasher that we purchased to replace the one that had quit working. He figured it would be easy to “do up” what he had to undo. Probably could have, too, if the old one hadn’t been incorrectly installed in the first place. We had to end up calling a plumber!

Did you know that your header on this post reads “August 19?”
