Outside My Window…. It’s a balmy 55 degrees, drizzling and overcast. That’s okay with me as long as it is not freezing rain and wind chills in the twenties.
I am thankful….that I did all my ‘shoulds’ yesterday in regards to my work week. That leaves me with a treasured rainy day today to do as I wish until it is time to leave for the bigger city to teach.
From the kitchen…yesterday it was our standard, nothing fancy, super bowl fare (wasn’t it an awesome game by the way….even though I was cheering for the Cardinals)…..cheese and salsa dip. That’s it. However, the day before I made my famous philly cheesesteak subs:
- saute peppers and onions and set aside when almost burnt
- brown 1/4 pound of hamburger and drain
- shred up 1/4 to 1/2 pound of Boars Head Roast Beef
- combine the roast beef, onions and pepper and hamburger in the saute pan and heat until the roast beef is slightly browned
- lower the heat, cover everything with provolone cheese, cover with lid until cheese melts
- serve on fresh hoagie rolls
I am creating…a post based on today’s entry in ‘Simple Abundance’. I don’t often do my posts ahead of time….I pretty much just wing it once I get in front of the keyboard. However, today’s entry in this book really hit home with me and I have so much to say about it.
From the learning rooms…here is a glimpse at Miss Sam’s planner for today:
- Social Studies: watch Volume One of PBS American Revolution; read chapters 1-6 in Molly Pitcher biography; read chapters 4-6 in Give Me Liberty
- Language Arts: read pages 18-24 in Language book (we are starting Personal Narratives); make corrections on personal narrative; correct grammar worksheet from last week; put rough draft of Marie Curie book report into final format; read chapters 1 – 3 in ‘fiction book of the week’.
- Science: Read pages 548-550 in Science book; complete focus questions 18-20; we are studying Genes and Heredity
- Cursive: continue writing Obama’s Inaugural speech
- Florida History: read Chapter One in The Young Naturalist’s Guide to Florida
- Math: do multiple operations worksheets as review
I am going…to meet with a former student for an early ‘before classes dinner’ at my most favorite restaurant which has now opened in the bigger city, MCalister’s Deli. I absolutely love their baked potatoes.
I am reading…the second book in the Twilight series, New Moon by Stephenie Meyer. These books are just mesmerizing from the very first page. I am totally surprised by this. Even though I heard that New Moon was not as good as the first, third, and fourth book…I am finding it captivating.
I am hoping…to get that dang bookcase together today!!
Around the house…things are pretty much under control with laundry caught up, floors mopped, trash collected, miscellaneous odds and ends in their proper place, etc…
One of My Favorite Things…my Swiffer!!! It is awesome in keeping the floors under control in a house with two dogs and one sloppy cook (kitchen floor) and one teenager(bathroom floor).
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week:I have a pretty full counseling/teaching week. However, I am soooooo looking forward to going to this craft show this weekend. This particular craft show has been on my ‘To Do’ list for eight years….and happily a friend called last week and suggested we go. Hopefully next year I will be a vendor at this particular craft show (grin).
Here is a picture thought I am sharing…there is just something about this photo that I absolutely love.

Today’s ‘Around the Square‘: is Amydeanne from The 160 Acre Woods. I have known Amydeanne from my early blogging days. She was and continues to be, without a doubt, the inspiration behind my dreams of expressing myself through photography. She has been an awesome mentor through the years…not only with photography, but also with my writing and with my blog development. I can’t express how appreciative I am of this friendship. She is awesome!!! I hope you click on over and take a peek at this fabulously talented lady!!!
Today I am grateful for: the rain. It will keep me inside working on what I love …. my photography.
Today I am going to simplify my life: by subscribing to Bob and Sheri’s podcasts so I am not confined to listening to them only when they are on the radio.

Yummm….McAllister’s potatoes. *sigh* something I miss about Alabama.
It’s snowing here. Probably not something you would trade for, huh?
Glad to see you taking care of yourself and how well you have bounced from all your “triggers”.
Oh Man, Danielle, that was cruel and unusual punishment to post that yummy sounding recipe for the cheese steak subs! Got my mouth watering and my body hankering big time for a big old sandwich like that!
And like you, I loved the photo you posted too! Something about the pose that really gets ya!
Have a Happy Groundhog’s Day. I know I will just knowing it will only be six more weeks till spring regardless what that little furry rodent up in Punxsatawney said this morning.
Peace!
Stopping in to say hello. I will go check out the Simple Abindance post for today…isn’t it odd how so many things now get the term “post?”
Mt. Dora. Sigh. I love Mt. Dora and have many happy memories of romantic weekends there with husband. He is working so hard these days, it is unlikely that we will get there for a while, but someday we’ll be back.
Okay dear, time for some book discussion on Twilight….shoot me an e-mail!!!
Hugs,
Holly
You have the nicest daybook. I love the recipe, it sounds really yummy.
