Addiction 9,294

No sooner do I have my ‘To Be Read’ pile down to a manageable stack something uncontrollable happens. I must.must.must. replace one book read with five new ‘To Be Read’ books. It’s just a crazy quirk in my personality….and of course the addictive surge that flows through my veins whenever I touch a book that is more than 900 pages (grin).

So to keep my sanity (and to help me remember what I have), I am making a list of the books in my ‘To Be Read’ pile. I would love to photograph them but that would like take forever!!!! Today’s ‘Around the Square’: is Donetta from My Quiet Corner. I have been a fan of My Quiet Corner ever since I participated in her Christmas Memories postings back in December 2006. You can read all about Donetta here but I would be sure to subscribe to her blog once you stopped by to tell her hello. She is wonderfully ‘refreshing’ and anything but ‘quiet’ (in a blessed way!!). Oh my gosh…talk about synchronicity……as I was linking up to My Quiet Corner I just noticed that she just posted her ‘Reading List’…..kindred spirits to be sure!!!

Today I am grateful for: that my husband never complains about all the books that I accumulate to feed my addiction.

Today I am going to simplify my life: by making a list of all my ‘To Be Read’ books so I can monitor how out of control my addiction is (grin).

I share your addiction to a point. I have no shelf….only a corner with them piled and waiting. Of course, they are also in my drawer, in the family room, and at school. UGH! I have some of these in my own pile and some I’ve enjoyed.

    Hugs,

    Susan

P.S. No College teaching for me yet…but I sure would love to know how to get my name in at the community college level for some of the general ed classes.

Oh my goodness! That list overwhelms me! :) I love to read and don’t get nearly enough time to do so. I try to pre-read anything the kids will be reading in school (if I haven’t read it already). That’s where Jane Eyre came in. Since Christmas break I’ve also read Treasure Island, Oliver Twist, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and am just finishing C.S. Lewis’ book Til We Have Faces. That is an awesome book! On my nightstand right now is Grisham’s new book The Associate which I got for Valentine’s Day. Also, Jumping Ship, a homeschooling book by Michael Pearl and This Is Your Brain on Joy. I’d love to read that Donald Miller book. Have you read his book Blue Like Jazz? I’ve been meaning to read that for years. I like the title of the one on your list better, though.

You can get your ‘to read’ list down to manageable levels? You are my hero. I even have a few of the same books in my pile.

Wow! What a list! I have to say that I’ve read nearly none of those books. One disappointing thing I have noticed with getting book recommendations from blogs is that my local library doesn’t carry very many of the books. I try not to buy books anymore (I seriously could spend way too much money if I allowed myself to buy books).

Do you usually buy your books or do you go to the library.

Thanks for your compliment on my blog design. I am loving it too:) Have a good weekend!

I don’t even have a true list of what I want to read b/c it would be too long! I am determined to do less “beach reading” this year. So far so good, but I’ve still only read 4-5 books.

How funny- the captcha word is “media”
I see some intriguing titles in that list. Karen Kingsbury is a good author- I’ve read quite a few of her books and really enjoy them.
Is that a photo you took?!

I would love to hear your review for “Invisible No More” – may be something I would like to read also.
