Outside My Window…the sun is shining brightly and I am enjoying the cardinals that are now able to find food thanks to my new squirrel free bird feeder!
I am thankful….that my marriage is at such a place that my husband is comfortable going fishing on Mother’s Day and my daughter is the typical teenager and sleeps the weekends away. It allowed me to piddle around my house at my leisure and to watch Lifetime movies in between the piddling.
From the kitchen…not much going on there. We ate out several times this week in honor of “Mother’s Day Week”.
I am creating…my ‘on the back burner for too long’ book The Whippoorwill Chronicles.
From the learning rooms…Sam finished up her middle school history and language arts. Still working on Life Science and Math. We have her ninth grade curriculum all set to go in September. Yeppers….we are so awesome!!
I am going to…relax today. No counseling clients (I switched them to Thursday and no teaching (summer semester starts on Wednesday). My personal version of an extended Mother’s Day.
I am reading…the last in the Big Stone Gap series Home to Big Stone Gap. This has been such an enjoyable series…it’s a keeper. Next on my list is John Grisham’s The Associate.
I am hoping…to have enough money left after bills to buy another ‘squirrel free’ bird feeder.
Around the house..dust, dust, everywhere!!!!
One of My Favorite Things…is creating a natural garden and paver walkways in my backyard. It is a slow process and it is getting much too hot to be outside anymore working…but I love what I have accomplished. I absolutely love the view from my office and my sun porch. It is so comforting.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week:
- start the new semester with a brand new set of students
- read Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten to my little ones who are moving up the academic ladder
- getting my teeth cleaned (yuck!!)
- take Snickers to the groomers
- get Marbles’ nails trimmed
Here are some picture thoughts I am sharing… Mr. J and his fishing buddy had a semi-great fishing day yesterday wouldn’t you say?

The “One That Got Away”….
Mr. J’s ‘almost catch of the day.

The “One That Didn’t Get Away”….
Mr. J’s friend is bringing us some fresh shark filets for dinner tonight.
Today I am grateful for: springtime in Florida. There is so much to appreciate before we head into our air conditioned homes and hibernate all summer.

I love it that you got to take a day off and “piddle”! I felt that way when I left my house to spend the day with my Mom. DH wanted to be sure it was OK..and it was. And so he and the boys did their own thing.
Hope you’re well.
Sounds like a great Mother’s Day! I don’t think I get enough “alone” time for myself. I love my family, but it’s nice to be with only myself sometimes.
Wow! That fish looked great – my husband would be so jealous. He used to fish a lot, but not so much in the last couple of years.
I think a ‘day off’ is a great Mother’s Day gift. I hope you had a restful day and enjoyed the shark steaks… preferably cooked by someone else too.
I Love piddling! but rarely get to as my “to do” list is endless and goes on from day off to day off…I did piddle a little bit on Friday when I took a half sick/mental health day off.
Looks like some good fishing..I too always enjoyed Spring in FL…I love warm weather! and it usually doesn’t rain too much then. I’m super jealous of your Mother’s Day summer off!
Mother’s Week. Now there’s something I could get into! I am glad you had a nice “day” and were able to do your own thing for a bit.
Wow…I am so behind on visiting everyone around the blogosphere! Things have been crazy around here…I’m so glad things are calm at your place!
Mother’s Day Week…I like that!
A book! How EXCITING!!! My Mother’s Day was the same~the littles were sick, and I actually felt like washing walls~so I did! It was GREAT! LOVE your Daybook~I’ve not been able to do one. For some reason it won’t let me paste from my blog file? ARGH! (((((HUGS))))) sandi
