When I proudly received my Masters Degree I punctuated that achievement with “When Miss Sam turns 16 I’ll think about going for my Doctorate Degree”. Well it appears that I am seriously considering it a few years earlier.
To be licensed in Florida requires me to obtain 24 more credit hours in the following areas:
- Gender Studies and Human Sexuality
- Advanced Psychopathology
- Addictions Counseling
- Psychopharmacology
- Marriage and Family
- Advanced Treatment Interventions
My thoughts are:
- would it be more practical to pursue the Doctorate than to invest in the necessary credits for getting licensed in Florida?
- which would be more cost effective in the long term?
Food for thought on this wonderfully rainy day – which I have off (yippee!!).
Well, I’m off to research scholarships.

Whoa…that’s a lot to think about. I’m just glad I’m not the one making that decision. I think my brain is on permanent vacation these days. I’ll be interested to see how this goes!
KEWL!!!!! Go for it dearie! I think then we will have to call you Dr. Danielle
I think Dr. in front of your name would sound lovely. I say GO FOR IT! I have a few friends that have their PhD’s – it hasn’t hurt them a single bit!
Wow! yes, weigh the costs for each..
One of my goals is also to get my doctorate. Our local university just started a PHd program in history, but you have to be a full time student to be enrolled. If I get laid off, the silver lining will be going back to school.
