My Daybook ~ August 17

The weather in my neck of the woods:

Overcast. Will probably be that way all week considering the tropical depressions/storms that are looming in the Atlantic and the Gulf of Mexico.

Does everyone have their hurricane supplies????

A simple pleasure:

De-cluttering my home of even the smallest annoyance. I tackled my junk drawer this morning. Tomorrow, or maybe even this afternoon, I am going to take down my “wall of antique pots” in my laundry room. They gather way too much dryer lint and I am tired of trying to keep the dang place clean. It is hard enough just keeping up with the laundry, never mind keeping the laundry room clean.

I am thankful:

  • That Sam’s school doesn’t start until September.
  • That I can hold off scheduling clients until September.

This allows for a two-week “transition” period for the four classes I will be teaching this fall. The fall semester starts this Wednesday.

From the kitchen:

Still not much going on there. Even though I was off all week it was wishful thinking last week to think I would even begin to venture into my recipe bookmarks.

Have been way too busy prepping for a new fall course.

I am working on (still):

  • De-cluttering our home (again)
  • Turning our formal living room into a library/game room
  • All my scrapbooks
  • Course material for the Fall Semester

From the learning rooms:

Sam is going to learn to clean her room today….LOL.

I am reading:

I couldn’t get into David Baldacci’s First Family. I’m not saying it isn’t good. I just wasn’t in the mood.

However, I was certainly in the mood for The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. When I first read the inside jacket cover I was like “no way…this is way too futuristic for me…and creepy”. Well, never judge a book by it’s cover. It was one of those “can’t put down” reading experiences.  I can’t wait for September 1st to purchase the second book Catching Fire.

Devotional/Scripture Readings/Key Verses:

Genesis 39: 21 – 23

But while Joseph was there in the prison, the Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden. So the warden put Joseph in charge of all those held in the prison, and he was made responsible for all that was done there. The warden paid no attention to anything under Joseph’s care, because the Lord was with Joseph and gave him success in whatever he did.

As a prisoner and slave, Joseph could have seen his situation as hopeless. Instead, he did his best with each small task given him. His diligence and positive attitude were soon noticed by the warden, who promoted him to prison administrator.

Are you facing a seemingly hopeless predicament? At work, at home, or at school, follow Joseph’s example by taking each small task and doing your best.

Remember how God turned Joseph’s situation around. He will see your efforts and can reverse even overwhelming odds.

I bought one of those sliding “junk drawers” by Rubbermaid.

LOVE IT!

And by the way……

I am so NOT Obsessive Compulsive.

No, I’m NOT.

No, I’m NOT.

Okay……maybe just a little.

What does your Daybook look like?
