What A Difference a Table Makes

Photobucket

I may have mentioned this before….we have a pretty useless space in our home…the front living room. I recently got rid of much of the hand me down furniture and began to plan a “library/game” room. I didn’t think of this use of space all by myself ~ I have to thank my very dear friend Miss Sue.

Which brings me to “what a difference a table makes”. I have been searching for a table that our budget can manage. I would love to have a black high top but I don’t believe it will go with what furniture remains in the front living room. Plus there is the budget factor.

Anyway, I after much thrift shop hunting, I was able to find what I had imagined in my head and at a reasonable price ($125)…..a nice pedestal table with three chairs – the fourth will be the result of yet another thrift shop excursion in the coming weeks.

ANYWAY!! Back to why this table has made a difference in our lives. It was my pleasure to open my home this week to my best friend’s two children while she made an emergency trip up to New York. This table provided so many wonderful memories during their stay with us.

As Miss Sam so succinctly stated:

Mom, we have played more games on that table than we have in the past few years combined!!

Sad but true. We generally will play board/card games on the floor…but as old age creeps in my hips and back can’t take that “playground” anymore and the kitchen table is too isolated from every one else.

So there you have it.

What a difference a table can make in our lives. It has brought us together as a family and provided a great place to entertain our friends.

Who is ready for a game of Texas Hold “Em????????

A good thrift store find is always fun. We don’t do it very often, but our family also enjoys playing board games. Maybe we should begin a Game Night.

I love Texas Hold-em! And I would definitely need a chair… a cushioned chair if I plan to sit for more than a few minutes.

My next kitchen chairs will be cushioned seat and back on wheels. My kitchen is tiled and I cringe every time I hear the chairs slide on the tile.

A great table and a great post. I am currently trying to make our living room into a usable space. Mine will look a lot more kindergarten than yours but it is the same overall concept of getting use out of a space.
