The weather in my neck of the woods:
Hot and muggy. So much for that “cold snap” last week.
A simple pleasure:
Updating my blog while enjoying a fresh brewed cup of coffee. I’m praying it won’t make me nauseous as most everything is as I have been fighting some type of illness since yesterday.
I am thankful:
For thrift shops. I was able to get this guy for my back garden for only $4.00
From the kitchen:
Last fall I did really well with my “Fall Into Cooking” posts. My goal is to get back into the kitchen and explore the Rachael Ray genes that MUST be in there somewhere as my mother is an excellent cook who canĀ make a wonderful meal out of nothing.
I am working on:
My photo portfolio.
From the learning rooms:
Miss Sam and I are going to start working on our Genealogy unit this week. I purchased Unpuzzling Your Past by Emily Anne Croom which appears to be an easy basic guide to genealogy.
I am not reading:
Lord of the Rings. I FINALLY finished all three books!!! It was an amazing story and I truly enjoyed it. Now that I finished the book I told my husband he could order the movies from Blockbuster.
I am reading:
Smoke Screen by Sandra Brown. I needed a “no brainer” after trying to follow all the exploits of those hobbits!!!
A Picture thought I’m sharing:

We were able to watch the sunrise last weekend as we headed out from Ozello for a day of fishing.
Devotional/Scripture Readings/Key Verses
I found God’s thumbprints all over this reading because on the day I read this I was reading the following scripture.
Leviticus 25:35
“If one of your countrymen becomes poor and is unable to support himself among you, help him as you would an alien or a temporary resident, so he can continue to live among you.”
God said that neglecting the poor was a sin. Many times we do nothing, not because we lack compassion, but because we are overwhelmed by the size of the problem and don’t know where to begin.
God doesn’t esxpect you to eliminate poverty, nor does he expect you to neglect your family while providing for others.
He does, however expect that when you see an individual in need, you will reach out with whatever help you can offer, including hospitality.

What does your Daybook look like?

Let me know what you think of the LOTR movies. I was just thinking today that I could watch those again. There were changes made, but I can enjoy them for what they are.
I hope you don’t get sick!
You will enjoy the movies much more since you’ve read the books! The cinematography is fabulous, and they are about as true to the books as they can be with so much material to cover.
Our weather was completely different. Sunny, coolish and very windy!
Love your thrift shop find. Good luck on the geneaology. A relative traced my family to Elizabeth I. Very interesting! HAH
I need to step out and do the daybook sometime. I love this, Danielle! That picture is so pretty.
Hugs,
Susan
I do like that you read everything, fantasy and murder mysteries etc. The Christian women here in the village are very narrow minded and would feel I was backslidden if they saw these books in my home. Consequently I don’t fellowship with them much, as a more humorless lot I have yet to meet.
The place where we plan to spend winter in Mexico was hit by Hurricane Jimenca and there is some need there. We are not rich people but I am sure there are some small ways we can help. I know my husband wants to get involved with rebuilding I am not sure what I can do.
Did you come up with the idea of My Daybook yourself or did it originate somewhere else. I think it is a nice idea. Helpful when one doesn’t have anything particular to write. I am sure sometimes posts spin off the every day events.
I LOVE the gnome! I have found some of the best stuff ever at yard sales and thrift stores for decorating my garden. You just can’t beat the prices.
