The weather in my neck of the woods:
Cold (50 degrees….brrrrrrr) and overcast. A perfect December day.
A simple pleasure:
Sorting through my To Be Read pile of books to see which one I want to enjoy next.
I am thankful:
That my home is now back to it’s normal “state of affairs”. No snowflakes or silver tinsel being trailed through the house. Just stuffing from chewed up dog toys and a dust bunny or two …okay, okay….make that ten or twenty thousand.
From the kitchen:
Made a yummy mushroom and portabello porkloin this weekend. Thank you Sam’s Club for always making my meal prep easy and the results fantastic.
Creative Corner:
Working on:
- our Christmas New Year’s cards
From the learning rooms:
Sam is on break the next two weeks…except for Math. She just did a re-take on her last exam and made an 80. She just asked me if I was happy that she got an 80 and if it was good enough…she is now beside me asking for a hug…..another “simple pleasure”.
I am almost finished reading:
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. This is one of my favorite books. I read it when I was a teenager and loved it then as I do now. There is just so much to glean from the characters and their approach to life’s circumstances.
I am getting ready to read:
Dead to the World by Charlaine Harris. I really like this series. I am also thankful that WalMart carries it at a really reduced price. Even cheaper than Borders with my educator’s discount.
On My Mind:
Nothing. It is such a wonderful break.
Hearth and Home:
Just re-organized “my” office so that John can have 1/2 of it for his hobby – fisherman extraordinaire. It made me feel good that he wanted to make “my” space “our space”.
I laugh:
Because the utensils are STILL in the dishpan waiting to be washed. This has been going on since Christmas. I HATE.HATE.HATE. washing utensils. Nope we don’t have a dishwasher. So far I have been washing them on a need by need basis…but it’s getting a little old. I wonder if John will step in and stop the craziness???????

Hmmm. I think I’d be asking Santa for a dishwasher next year.
